Motivate & Inspire

Most of us, at one time or another, have experienced a healthy lifestyle. We exercised, ate the right food, and literally felt and looked better. The motivation and inspiration was there. Where does it go? Most of know what to do; why aren't we doing it? We hear different ways to get there! Even though we know what to do, anxiety about not choosing the absolute best way keeps us from doing anything at all. Why does this healthy stuff always turn into all or nothing? If you know what to do and are simply looking for motivation, this section is for you. Hopefully we can inspire a spark to get you going or relate to a motivating factor in your own life. I hope my experiences can inspire...

My wife Anne and I found a great motivator - our wedding. We entered the "Body for Life" challenge which is a 12 week before and after contest. Picking a big event is a great motivator! Every cheating dessert and drive thru is urgently against you when there is a deadline. Make a bet with friends or pick a big event. We have never been so motivated and disciplined as we were for our wedding day. We squeezed in every 15 minute cardio session there was time for. Anne trained harder in the weight room than ever before! We were bound and determined to have hard bodies after documenting a depressing and squishy "before" picture like that!

Pick a 3 month, 4 month, or six month away event and make that your big day. The deadline worked awesome for us! Take a before picture and give it to a friend you trust. Instruct them to post it everywhere if you don't follow through with your quest. Tell everyone what you are doing for some accountability and get to work!

P.S. Anne only lost 2 lbs. on the scale. She actually lost 12 pounds of fat and gained 10 pounds of hard & shapely muscle! The scale lies!!!
